How long are Jim Palmer Trucking drivers out?

Generally our drivers are out for 3-4 weeks over the road. However, if you live in certain parts of the country, such as the Pacific Northwest or the Midwest, you may see the house more often.

What areas do you run?

Our lanes generally run the West coast to the Midwest. We usually don't go further east than Ohio. We have authority to run the contiguous 48 states.

What types of positions do your offer?

We have numerous over the road positions available. We also offer some Northwest and Midwest regional positions. Call recruiting for more details on any of these lanes. Our careers page has more details about available positions.

What type of equipment do you have?

We currently run a new, updated fleet of Peterbilts and Freightliners. Specific models are the Peterbilt 579 and Freightliner Cascadia Evolution. All of our trucks are 2015's and newer. See our equipment page for specific details about each truck model.

Do you have APU's in your trucks?

Yes, all of our trucks are equipped with an APU. Models vary between Carrier and Thermoking. Our trucks also come equipped with inverters as well.

What type of freight do you haul?

Our freight is tempurature controlled, no-touch freight. We have both live load and unloads as well as drop and hook loads.

As an experienced driver, how much experience do I need?

We have positions available for drivers with 12-18 months of over the road experience. We also have a training program for people who have either recently acquired their CDL's at a training school or have no CDL at all and wish to obtain one.

Do you require hazmat?

We do NOT require a hazmat endorsement.

Do you have a friendly pet program?

Yes, we have a very pet friendly program with no breed restrictions. We understand the positive benefits for drivers on the road that come with companionship.

Do you have a rider program?

Yes, we have a friendly rider program at Jim Palmer. A couple pieces of paperwork are required before a rider may climb aboard the truck.

What states do you hire out of?

Jim Palmer currently hires drivers out of the contiguous 48 states. Wherever you call home, we can get you there.

Where are your terminals located?

Our main terminal is located in Missoula, Montana. We also have a sister company terminal located in Springfield, Missouri. We have dropyards located across the country as well.

How long is orientation?

Experienced driver orientation is two and a half days. Orientations start on Tuesday morning and end on Thursday afternoon. Drivers typically roll out in their new truck either Thursday evening or Friday morning after orientation.

What bonuses or incentives does Jim Palmer Trucking offer their drivers?

Jim Palmer offers a fuel bonus paid on every trip, every week. We also offer a monthly safety bonus and a $10,000 longevity bonus for our drivers.
